Dr. Mohamad Maliki bin Osman (born 19 July 1965) is a Singaporean politician. A member of the governing People's Action Party (PAP), he is the Mayor of the South East District of Singapore, and a Senior Parliamentary Secretary at the ministries of Defence and National Development. He has been a Member of Parliament (MP) since 2001, representing the Group Representation Constituencies (GRCs) of Sembawang (2001-2011) and East Coast (since 2011). ==Career== Maliki was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work and Psychology at the National University of Singapore from 1998 to 2004. ===Political career=== Maliki was first elected to Parliament at the 2001 general election. In 2004, he was made a Parliamentary Secretary. He served as Parliamentary Secretary at the ministries of Health (2004-05), the Community Development, Youth and Sports (2004-06), and National Development (2005-10). In 2010, Maliki was promoted to Senior Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of National Development.
